Materials science, engineered with purpose.

The Electronic Ceramics Laboratory connects fundamental understanding with precise processing to create functional materials for sensing, actuation, energy storage, and advanced electronics.

Our perspective

Connecting structure, process, and performance.

Electronic ceramics sit at the heart of modern technologies, translating electrical, mechanical, and thermal inputs into useful functions. Their performance depends on decisions made across every scale—from point defects and crystal symmetry to interfaces, microstructure, and component architecture.

Our laboratory studies those connections as one continuous engineering problem. We combine composition design, powder synthesis, thermal processing, thin-film deposition, component fabrication, and high-precision measurement to understand why a material behaves as it does—and how to make that behavior reliable.

Based at National Taiwan University, we train researchers to move confidently between scientific fundamentals and practical engineering constraints while contributing to an open, collaborative research culture.

What guides us

A rigorous, connected research culture.

01

Fundamental insight

We use structure–property relationships and careful controls to distinguish mechanism from correlation.

02

Process precision

Repeatable processing and traceable parameters allow meaningful comparison across materials and devices.

03

Engineering translation

We evaluate promising materials under component-relevant electrical, thermal, and mechanical conditions.

How we work
